Let us remember that the former director was arrested when he tried to cross the Russian border. Trukhin, as reported by the United Press Service of the St. Petersburg Courts on September 9, was accused of causing material damage to the St. Petersburg Scientific Research Institute of the Interior in the amount of 436 million 746 thousand 816 rubles.

The reason is the embezzlement of funds from the institute under its jurisdiction. The department clarified that in January 2021 it agreed to a payment of $5,940,000 to the account of a public limited company that was created to work together with an institute from a Latin American state. At the same time, it turned out that Trukhin, in addition to being Russian, also had citizenship of this country.

In addition, Trukhin, according to investigators, received almost 41.5 million rubles as a bribe from a trading company. He received another 4.5 million rubles for lobbying the interests of this company.

On the NIIVS website there is still information that in 2021 Viktor Trukhin was appointed Honorary Consul of the Republic of Nicaragua in St. Petersburg.
