Anastasia Zavorotnyuk has been fighting brain cancer for almost four years. She spent the last six months at the cancer center. The other day, the actress was taken from the hospital by her husband Peter Chernyshev. Oncologist Dmitry Shabanov told what the artist had to go through during these months.
According to KP.RU sources, Anastasia Zavorotnyuk returned home after six months of treatment in a private clinic in the center of Moscow. The actress was diagnosed with glioblastoma, the most aggressive form of cancer.
Anastasia’s case is treated not only by Russian, but also Israeli specialists. The medical center has its own proprietary method of treating malignant brain tumors. In February 2023, Zavorotnyuk completed another course of therapy. She is now in a long recovery.
According to Dmitry Shabanov, patients with a diagnosis like Anastasia’s constantly need medication. “With glioblastoma, the chances of survival are very small, unfortunately. It all depends on the treatment, the drugs, the course of therapy that is used,” the doctor said.
He noted that a brain tumor destroys the body very quickly, in one to two years. “And the fact that Zavorotnyuk has been alive for four years is the merit of the doctors in the first place. In her case, the result is good, since the disease has been contained for a long time. Most likely, this is the result of well-chosen chemistry, hormone therapy and possibly operations”, quotes Shabanova Woman.ru.
The oncologist emphasized that there are no miracle pills. “Drug therapy can take years. Cancer treatment is a long process. Only regular maintenance therapy saves the actress. Rehabilitation plays an equally important role,” the doctor concluded.
