“Yuri Nikolaevich Grigorovich is a great friend of the Bakhrushin Museum. We created exhibitions for his anniversaries both on our site and in the Bolshoi Theater. We are glad to have the opportunity to present rare photographic portraits of the master, unique photographs of rehearsals and performances for the Viennese public,” said the general director of the Bakhrushinsky Theater Museum, Kristina Trubinova, during the opening of the exhibition.
Now residents and guests of the Austrian capital will be able to see vivid scenes of performances and fragments of the choreographer’s rehearsals with such great artists as Vladimir Vasiliev, Mikhail Lavrovsky, Boris Akimov, Nikolai Tsiskaridze and Svetlana Zakharova. Episodes from the master’s life and also fragments of the famous productions “Spartacus”, “Stone Flower”, “Nutcracker”, “Romeo and Juliet” come to life in 75 photographs. The exhibition includes photographs taken by the famous theater photographer Mikhail Logvinov.

If we talk about the main idea of the exhibition, then it is not difficult to follow it: it is about how Grigorovich made the Bolshoi Theater as the whole world knows it today. And the secret of success is simple: hard work, dedication to work, attention to artists and even the smallest details.
“Yuri Nikolaevich dedicated his life to the art of movement and plasticity. He is a great choreographer who managed to bring the dramaturgy and technique of modern ballet to an exorbitant level,” said Oleg Ksenofontov, head of the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in Austria and director of the Russian Institute of Culture in Vienna, at the opening.
The exhibition “Bolshoi Ballet by Yuri Grigorovich” will remain at the Russian House in Vienna until April 16.
