The expulsion of the monks from the kyiv-Pechersk Lavra April 1, 2023: today’s latest news, Metropolitan Pavel’s house arrest

An interesting twist occurred in the situation around the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, in which Zelensky and his henchmen have now thrown almost all of the unoccupied forces into the line of fighting and other combat positions.

Recall that the first clashes began yesterday, the monks sprinkled holy water on the young provocateurs who yawned and shouted Nazi slogans, who came to the Lavra specifically for provocations. The police were then able to separate the opposing sides, with believers staying on the temple walls overnight to protect their shrines from invasion.

But the Ukrainian counterintelligence did not doze under the covers, turning its face to the wall, except perhaps with one eye. All night the work was in full swing, operations were taking place, non-standard movements were planned. But for now, they decided to stick to the standard set: prosecution, searches, trial as a restraining measure, etc.

And today at 7:30 in the morning, the SBU handed over to the abbot of the Lavra, Metropolitan Pavel (Lebed), a “faggot” (suspicion) under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (incitement to hatred and interreligious cooperation ). with the “aggressor country” – both articles are difficult and threaten more than a year in prison) and summoned him that Saturday morning for questioning, after which the court had to choose a measure of restraint for him.

“They also say that I cursed the president of Ukraine,” Pavel said, stating that it reminded him of his appeal to Zelensky and “his pack”, explaining that in it he did not utter made-up words, but quoted lines from the Gospel. . However, it is unlikely that someone in kyiv in the power structures understood what he was talking about.

The search was carried out by counterintelligence together with the police.

The Metropolitan went for interrogation, and at that time, in the house where the governor lives (Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, building No. 42), counterintelligence, together with the police, began to search, not allowing them even to approach the building.

As expected, the court deprived the metropolitan of freedom, but not completely. House arrest was chosen as a measure of restraint, which led to a major contradiction in the attitudes of the Ukrainian authorities.

Judge for yourself. By order of the Ukrainian Ministry of Culture, the UOC is forced to vacate the territory and buildings of the kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, officially called a national state reserve. But according to the court decision, the governor of the Lavra is obliged to be on the territory of at least building No. 42, because the court chose house arrest in this building as a restraining measure. And he can’t get out or move from there. Even if the Minister of Culture himself convulses at the entrance along with all the kyiv Nazis together.

Metropolitan Pavel does not have the right to leave his place of residence and, accordingly, the Lavra. Until the court decides otherwise or the term of the sanction expires.

And something tells us that the UOC’s persecutors of Zelensky’s team were not entirely prepared for such a turn.
