He would have turned 78 in less than a month. As Capitol Fax reported, referring to the journalist’s daughter, Conaty died on August 28 in an Arizona hospital from cancer.
Jack Conaty was born in Connecticut, earned a bachelor’s degree in English from the private Providence College and taught school for six years. He then earned a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Missouri. He began his career in Tampa, Florida, at WTVT, then went on to a station in New Jersey and several other channels. Among other things, he hosted the Sunday talk show Perspectives on Fox in Chicago.
During his career, the anchor won three Emmy Awards, a Peabody Award and earned several other awards and nominations, including Best Reporting.
