The streaming service Hulu has revealed the release date for the third season of the pseudo-historical television series The Great: all ten episodes will premiere on May 12. The platform also showed the first image with the main characters: Elle Fanning as Catherine the Great and Nicholas Hoult as Emperor Peter III.
As reported by Variety, in the sequel to the series, Catherine and Peter try to save their marriage after Fanning’s character imprisoned the Emperor’s friends and nearly killed him. In addition, Peter will begin to have visions of his dead father (Jason Isaacs) and Catherine will try to make concessions in order to progress as a political leader.
The show has been renewed for a third season in January 2022. Series creator Tony McNamara is also serving as a writer and executive producer. Fanning and Holt are also producing.
