The Government approves the second youth cultural bond with the bulls included

The Government has approved this Monday the second edition of the youth cultural voucher, available to all those who turn 18 during 2023. bullfighting after ruling the Supreme Court in favor of the appeal filed by the Toro de Lidia Foundation.

This was announced by the Government broadcaster and Minister of Territorial Policy, Isabel Rodríguez, during the press conference after the Council of Ministers, which was brought forward to this Monday due to Vox’s motion of no confidence. Rodríguez has ruled out applying income criteria after the controversy that the thermal social bonus has caused in recent days.

The voucher has three spending sections, each with an amount allocated to different products:

– 200 euros for live art: exhibitions, audiovisual shows, tickets and passes for cinema, concerts, museums, libraries, exhibitions, festivals, bullfighting…

– 100 euros for cultural products in physical support such as books, records, DVDs, books, press…

-100 euros for subscriptions and rentals of online digital products: audiovisual streaming platforms, podcasts, e-books, online video games, digital press…

According to the Ministry of Culture and Sports, the objective is to offer young people a way to access culture in all its disciplines, in addition to generating culture consumption habits among young people and contributing to the cultural sector, which has been hit hard by the pandemic. . The applicant must have reached the age of majority during 2023 to be able to access this aid, and it is also possible to obtain it with the authorization of a father, mother or guardian. Once granted, the voucher is received through a virtual prepaid card for use via mobile phone (it can also be requested in physical format).

The first call for the youth cultural bond is consolidated in the 2023 General State Budget with an appropriated item of 210 million euros. According to Culture data published at the beginning of February, during the first three months of use, a total of 377,539 operations were carried out in participating establishments in Spain, representing a total investment of 15 million euros in the cultural sector. Only during January, 193,303 uses were registered, 41.91% more than in December. The value of purchases stood at 8.3 million euros, representing an increase of 60.61% compared to the previous month. As of February 10, there were 2,563 member companies, 21.18% more than in December and which translates into more than 3,000 physical and online points of sale (check the map here).
