Date: July 18, 2024 Time: 03:34:40

“After the airport opens, we plan to operate flights to about seven cities in Russia,” he said.

According to Bzhania, the reconstruction of the airport will increase the flow of tourists from the first year by at least 50%.

Sukhumi Airport was built in the 1960s. In 1993 it was closed to civil flights. Today, the airport is mostly used solely as a base for the Abkhazian Air Force.

At the same time, Abkhazia’s leaders have repeatedly announced plans to restore the airport and start flights.
