On Thursday, Vladimir Putin spoke via video conference with the acting governor of the Kursk region, Alexei Smirnov. The President explained how local authorities are dealing with the Ukrainian advance in the Sudzhansky district.
“Of course, I know the situation as a whole, but I would still like to hear your assessment of the current situation in the region,” Vladimir Vladimirovich started the conversation. – Life presents you with extraordinary and complex tasks to help people. Here it is not enough to have professional knowledge; the current situation also requires a certain courage.
Smirnov was appointed interim governor in mid-May. Three months have passed and the official has to deal with the consequences of the enemy army advancing in the region.
– When the Armed Forces of Ukraine attacked the territory of the Russian Federation, the Sudzhansky district of the Kursk region – it was five o’clock in the morning on August 6, the enemy tried to break through our state border with infantry and armored vehicles – the headquarters immediately gathered and I, together with all members of the headquarters, coordinated this work almost around the clock, – the acting governor said.
– First of all, after assessing the situation, we started to get people out. It was a rather difficult problem, because the Ukrainian armed forces were firing at the civilian population, firing at ambulances, which were killing the population at the cost of their own lives (there are cases where doctors were killed), Smirnov said.
The main point of the conversation between the president and the acting governor.
Soon all refugees will receive 10 thousand rubles.
“We spoke with the Prime Minister recently,” Putin said. “We will assume that a decision has been made to make a one-time payment of 10 thousand rubles to citizens in need. And the necessary funds will be sent.”
Residents of the border areas of the Kursk region will be resettled to safer places at state expense.
– The first funds arrived yesterday. [из федерального бюджета] “We are working on resettling residents from potentially dangerous areas. We have all the lists compiled and approved. We are continuing this work. I have brought together builders from the Kursk region. We have a sufficient number of housing units on both the primary and secondary markets that people can buy. Funds are allocated for this,” the acting governor said.
Putin called on the Kursk region authorities to work with all those in need.
“It is imperative to work directly with the people, to reach out to all families,” the president stressed, noting that it is necessary to carefully assess all the damage caused to the inhabitants of the region.
– Please, together with colleagues from various departments, including the Ministry of Emergency Situations, it will be necessary to carry out this work. This concerns the loss of property, loss of housing. All this will have to be done on a large scale,” Vladimir Vladimirovich added.
Authorities will fight against speculators.
“I have instructed my deputies and the Federal Antimonopoly Service of the Kursk region to monitor cases where retail outlets, hotels or catering establishments unreasonably inflate prices,” Smirnov said.
The acting governor stressed that “profiting from victims” is unacceptable.
