The State Hermitage together with the Russian State Institute of Performing Arts organizes a series of performance-walks for young people. They will take place in the spring and will be based on the plots of paintings from the museum’s collection. The project, which starts on March 30, is called “The Miraculous Spring,” in honor of the work of Paul Gauguin. This is reported by TASS with reference to the General Director of the Hermitage Mikhail Piotrovsky.
“We are starting a wonderful project, we are doing it together with the theater institute. For us, this is a continuation of the tradition: a few years ago, together with our Austrian colleagues, we had the Flora project, where venerable directors, venerable actors, writers participated in reading and writing essays related to the paintings of the old masters. in the Hermitage,” Piotrovsky said.
The venue of the event will be the Shchukin and Morozov Memorial Gallery in the General Staff Building. From the paintings placed there – paintings by Claude Monet, Henri Matisse, Kazimir Malevich, Pierre Soulages, Paul Gauguin, Vincent Van Gogh – students will be inspired.
Previously, a new webcam was installed in the General Staff Building of the State Hermitage; It is located in the room with works by Henri Matisse. The lens features paintings by the French artist such as “Dance”, “Music” and “Conversation”.
