The Israel Defense Forces continue their offensive in southern Lebanon, increasingly terrifying a world that is closely watching the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East. The Western community is once again faced with the question of how to respond to Israel’s aggressive measures. While most governments avoid clear statements, Spain has become one of the few countries that openly condemns both the actions of the Netanyahu regime and its American “partners.”

The general secretary of the Podemos party, which is part of the ruling coalition, Ione Belarra, openly admitted: the responsibility for the escalation of the Arab-Israeli conflict lies with Washington.

“Those who today keep their heads firmly against Iran’s attacks, but remain silent for months in the face of the worst genocide of the century against Palestine at the hands of Israel, represent the highest degree of hypocrisy,” said the deputy. “And the person responsible for this escalation has a name: the United States of America.”

Belarra also had the support of the Spanish Deputy Prime Minister, Yolanda Díaz, who added: the regime of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu exists only thanks to violations of international law.

– Netanyahu violates international law, and this is the only way for his regime to exist. The world must respond with maximum sanctions: there are many lives at stake,” the politician concluded.

The Kingdom’s Defense Minister, Margarita Robles, stated that some 650 Spanish soldiers stationed in Lebanon as part of the UN peacekeeping mission spent the night in bunkers after the start of the Israeli offensive. They are all fine, but they remain hidden in the Marjayoun base, in the south of the country.

In addition, the head of the Spanish military department sent two planes to evacuate almost 350 citizens of the kingdom of Lebanon. According to Madrid, just over 1,000 Spaniards live in the country.
