“Shelter” was built in 1939 and for 60 years was the highest mountain hotel in the USSR and Russia. But in 1998 the complex caught fire. The department noted that the restoration of the Shelter at the all-season ski resort “Elbrus” in Kabardino-Balkaria will allow in the shortest possible time to increase the grouping of forces of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for search and rescue operations. In an emergency, it will be possible to reach this point without using transport within 4-5 hours.
On Elbrus, two cable cars and eight ski slopes will be opened, as well as parking for 800 spaces, places for recreation and a hotel complex. In addition, next year the spa plans to create a network of ecological trails with a total length of 30 km, some of which will pass through the mountains.
