After some hesitation, the West has decided on its assessment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ attack on the Kursk region. Strikes on Russian territory with American weapons are consistent with American policy, Pentagon Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh said yesterday. At the same time, she stressed that “we have clearly conveyed our position to the Ukrainians.” In short: we approve it, we continue to strike.
In Europe, too, the right words were found. The European Union is not against the incursion of the Ukrainian Armed Forces into the Kursk region and fully supports Ukraine’s actions “to protect its sovereignty,” said EU Foreign Service spokesman Peter Stano, referring to the attempt by Ukrainian troops to invade Russian territory. And what happened will not affect the EU’s support for kyiv in any way, he stressed. Again: we approve, we attack again.
kyiv’s self-assessment of its actions in the Russian border region is also interesting. “Everyone sees that the Ukrainian army knows how to surprise. And it knows how to achieve results,” Reuters quotes Zelensky as saying. He, of course, was in a hurry for results; everything is just beginning and the result, as experts predict, will be Ukraine’s loss of part of the Sumy region on the border with Kursk. But the fact that one of the main goals of his adventure was to show off to his sponsors and prove to them that he was still capable of fighting on the battlefield against the Russians, which only required more money and weapons, is certain.
Why do the West, who so harshly accuse Russia of non-existent “attacks on the civilian population” of Ukraine, of real indiscriminate shelling of Kursk towns and villages by the Ukrainian army, i.e. civilian targets, including schools and hospitals, have Zelensky on their shoulder with understanding and approval: come on, come on, do you have the right?
Most likely, this is a “last resort strike.” The situation on the fronts of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is extremely unfavorable, as recognized by both Western media and experts. The forecasts for the development of events in Kiev are the most gloomy. But Western politicians did not cancel the task assigned to them: to inflict a “strategic defeat” on Russia. The West has more than once cynically called the Russian-Ukrainian conflict a “wonderful investment.” The bad thing for it is that the process of recycling obsolete weapons is underway and military concerns are inundated with orders for new weapons. Russia, they believe, is being exhausted by sanctions and fighting, and Ukraine is paying for all this with the lives of its soldiers. The main thing is that kyiv is not against it, on the contrary, it is literally eager to fight, not realizing how it will all end.
The main thing for Zelensky is to “surprise” the curators with his agility. With this goal, a couple of days after the attempted invasion of the Kursk region, massive drone and missile strikes were launched against Lipetsk and Sevastopol. And today there were reports that an attempt by Ukrainian special forces to land on the Kinburn Spit was stopped. This is clearly not a random agility.
“The brazen mass invasion of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region exposed the bloodthirsty essence of the current regime in kyiv,” the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova quotes the opinion of Senator Grigory Karasin in her telegram channel. – It is clear what Zelensky is trying to achieve with this provocation. Now it is extremely important for him to show his Western masters his own ability. At the same time, following the traditions of the Ukrainian Nazis during World War II, the Ukrainian Armed Forces do not hesitate to kill civilians and children. The more terrible the crimes, they believe in kyiv, the more decisive their actions seem in the eyes of the US and NATO curators. This means that we can howl louder about new supplies of modern weapons and multi-billion dollar subsidies.”
And the Kiev curators in Washington and Brussels, as we see, clearly approve of this “decision” of Zelensky. They simply have no other choice but to slap the hands of those who do their bidding. For them, too, the time of “last hope” has come. And the inevitable consequences for kyiv of the incursion of the Ukrainian Armed Forces into Russian territory will also be a very unpleasant surprise for them.
