Novosibirsk residents will have creative encounters with the writer “Russian Agatha Christie” Elena Mikhalkova, whose books are published in millions of copies, writers Alexei Varlamov, Shamil Idiatullin, Pavlov Belyaev, Donetsk poet and producer Anna Revyakina and others.
Among the festival’s headliners are also actress, radio and TV presenter Yana Poplavskaya, who will host a “Great Meeting of Parents” and a master class in stage oratory, the author of more than 20 novels in the genre of sensual female fantasy Milena Zavoichinskaya, “The Golden Voice of Litres” Ilya Dementyev, who voiced more than 400 works.
– “Book Siberia” is one of the most important and iconic events in terms of the development and promotion of book culture and reading culture in the region. More than 100 events are planned, aimed at both the general public and book professionals, said Vladimir Deev, Deputy Minister of Culture of the region.
– The cultural program of Book Siberia includes creative meetings with writers, poets, master classes, public readings, presentations of new books, lectures, theater performances and other thematic events. This year we will have a unique selection of authors. First of all, these are writers from Siberia, those who live in Moscow, but come from Novosibirsk and Tomsk,” shared Irina Nepeina, Deputy Director of the Novosibirsk Regional State Scientific Library for Administrative and Design Work.
According to Sergei Kozlov, Deputy Director of the Public Scientific and Technical Library of the Siberian Section of the Russian Academy of Sciences for Scientific Works, the VII regional book forum “The Reading Region: Books in the Life of Contemporaries” will be held at the festival, which will welcome representatives of the book community and libraries from China, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan and Belarus. At round tables, publishers and librarians will discuss professional issues: how to organize reading in modern conditions, how to involve children in reading, how to promote reading traditions.
During the festival, a book fair will be held at the State Public Library of Science and Technology, where more than 90 publishers will present their new releases and popular books. The results of the all-Russian competition “Book of the Year: Siberia – Eurasia” will also be summed up: 190 publications will be presented in 2024.
For the first time, the interregional festival of children’s books “Siberian Sparrow” will be held. As the organizers noted, over the past decade a community of talented and interesting children’s writers has formed in the region, many of whom have been laureates of various literary competitions and awards. The task of libraries is to introduce children to writers and their work. The Siberian sparrow ChiChitai, a new character in the book, will be your guide in this fascinating world of books.
Director of the Novosibirsk Regional Children’s Library named after AM Gorky Olga Kostina said that young readers will meet with writers: Natalia Volkova, Larisa Romanovskaya (Moscow), Svetlana Lavrova (Yekaterinburg), Nikolai Ponomarev (Omsk) and a whole group of Novosibirsk disembarkation: Elena Burak, Anastasia Bezlyudnaya, Maya Bessonova, Olga Kievskaya, Andrey Podistov.
Novosibirsk illustrators Lyubov Lazareva and Sergey Mosienko have prepared an exhibition of their works for Book Siberia.
