Among the contenders in the “Prose” category (25 in total) are works and authors already known to the Russian reader: Helena Pobyarzhina’s first novel, “Valsarb”, from Belarus, about loneliness, a mother’s aversion to his son and the painful historical episodes of the past. , The novel “Coffee with Pepper” by Daniel Berger from Kyrgyzstan, where the fictional is intertwined with real events, with the dark pages of Turkish history, as well as the story by Anna Zenkova “With warm regards from Thekla” by Belarus, a story about loss, friendship and adventure from an author who has long been loved by young and old only for readers.
There are 27 candidates for the award in the poetry category, including Dmitry Peskov with the book “This is how worlds die” from the USA, Vladimir Spektor with the book “I don’t want to rush…” from Germany, and Irina Chudnova with the book “Immortelle” from China.

Let us remember that the “Russian Prize” was on hiatus several years ago, but now it has started again. Authors who live abroad and write in Russian can again receive a prize and in addition 1 million rubles.
There will be three prizes: two winners of the “Prose” and “Poetry” categories will receive 1 million rubles each, and the second and third places will receive 800 and 700 thousand rubles each. A short list of applicants for the Russian Prize will be announced in August 2024. We will count the winners in the fall: the award ceremony will take place in Moscow on September 9.
