The Lumiere Gallery inaugurated the exhibition project “Life is like a movie”. The exhibition includes more than 30 collectible prints, works by Soviet and foreign authors in art deco style and aesthetics, which inspired the visual images of the Paveletskaya City residential complex.
One of the most striking exhibits presented to opening guests was photographer Horst P. Horst’s famous photograph “Corset by Mainbocker. Paris”, made in 1939 for Vogue magazine. The exhibition “Life is like a movie” is the first joint project of the MR Group and the Lumiere Gallery. After the completion of the project on September 3, 2023, several exhibits in the lobby of the business-class residential complex of the city of Paveletskaya.
The special attention of the guests at the opening was attracted by the famous painting “Side Kick B&W” by Melvin Sokolsky. In this image, young model Dorothy McGowan floats in her luxurious outfit in the middle of the dining room at the St. Regis in Paris. The work was done for Harper’s Bazaar magazine in 1965. This is one of the most expensive exhibits in the show that can be purchased. The cost of the work exceeds 30 thousand dollars.
Likewise, all those present highlighted the work of the famous American photographer Sheila Metzner. The exhibition featured photographs by the masters of Soviet reportage Vasily Yegorov and Nikolai Drachinsky. Images of many star heroes of the golden era of Hollywood became an inspiration for the architects and designers of the Paveletskaya City project, and the towers were named after Vivien Leigh, Charlie Chaplin, Frank Sinatra, Greta Garbo, Marilyn Monroe , Grace Kelly, Cary Grant, and Ingrid Bergman.
