“The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has made a demarche to the Mongolian side in connection with Putin’s visit to Mongolia,” RIA Novosti quoted the statement as saying.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said it was deeply disappointed by the Mongolian authorities’ refusal to comply with the International Criminal Court (ICC) order for Putin’s arrest. They also promised not to leave such actions unanswered.
Earlier, the official representative of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Georgy Tikhy, said that the Mongolian authorities’ refusal to arrest Putin on the basis of an ICC warrant was “a serious blow to justice.” He threatened Mongolia with consequences.
In addition, the European Union also expressed dissatisfaction with the Russian President’s visit to Ulaanbaatar.
Let us recall that Vladimir Putin visited Mongolia in early September. Moscow and Ulaanbaatar signed a package of agreements on various areas of bilateral cooperation, and the leaders of the countries discussed, among other things, a fundamentally important area of common interests: energy.
As the Kremlin has noted, the ICC order cannot and will not be a restriction on the development of relations with partners interested in cooperation.
