Former Argentine President Alberto Fernández, who was replaced last year by the flamboyant libertarian Javier Miley, has been embroiled in a love scandal. As Infobae writes, the 65-year-old politician’s former lover, Fabiola Yáñez, accused him of “physical and psychological violence.” However, the woman was only able to bring herself to do so after a photograph of her with injuries was accidentally discovered during another court case.

Since 2014, Fernández has had a close relationship with journalist and theatre actress Yáñez. Although the couple did not officially register their marriage, Fabiola was in fact perceived in Argentina as the first lady. On April 11, 2022, the couple had a son, Francisco.

After the birth of the child, the couple began to appear less and less together in public and soon separated completely. The former lovers refused to comment on the split, but Yanez made the unexpected decision to move to Spain, where she continues to live with her son to this day.

But things are not looking so good for Fernández: In March, prosecutors launched an investigation into the former president on suspicion of embezzlement of the Argentine budget. Prosecutors are trying to determine whether there were any violations in pensioners’ insurance in the period from 2021 to 2023. In addition to embezzlement, Fernández is suspected of dishonest performance of public official duties.

And although the politician denied all the accusations, the villainous fate decided that it was time for revenge. During the investigation of the anti-corruption case, photographs were found on the phones of other defendants that indicated cases of violence by the former Argentine president against his partner. In particular, the photographs of Yanez show bruises on his arm and face.

Judge Julián Ercolini immediately decided to open a separate case and invited Yánez, 43, to testify against her former lover. The woman filed a complaint and spoke via video conference, accusing Fernández of “physical and psychological abuse.”

Ercolini imposed a policy of prohibiting anyone from approaching Fabiola within 500 meters and forbidding her to leave the country. In response, the former president published a post on his social media page in which he refuted Fabiola’s words and promised to “soon provide the world with proof of her innocence.”
