Date: July 17, 2024 Time: 15:29:03

Recall that on December 21 the court sentenced Abyzov to 12 years in a maximum security colony. In addition to Abyzov, 11 other defendants heard his sentences in the dock. At the same time, during the debate between the parties, the Prosecutor’s Office requested 19 years and 6 months in prison for the former minister, and for the other participants, 7 to 18.5 years in prison.

“The court hearing on the appeal against the sentence of the convicted Abyzov and other defendants in the case is scheduled in the Moscow City Court on June 27 at 10 o’clock,” the agency reported in court.

Mikhail Abyzov coordinated Open Government work from 2012 to 2018. In March 2019, he was arrested on charges of fraud and creating a criminal community using his official position.

The former minister was also accused of hiding his financial situation as a government official, including controlling several offshore companies in the Virgin Islands and Cyprus.

In December last year, Abyzov paid more than 20 billion rubles from his own funds, the Prosecutor General’s Office claims.
