Throughout August, the Museum of Oriental Art will show favorite cartoons based on folk tales from the countries of the East. A series of screenings will be held in conjunction with the Soyuzmultfilm studio and will begin this week.
“The program includes cartoons based on folk tales from the countries of the East, including Japan and China, Korea and Vietnam, Mongolia and Kazakhstan, India and the Far East. The first three screenings will be accompanied by small mini-lectures by art critic and animation historian Anna Golda”, says the Museum of Oriental Art.
They offer to start with the folklore of China and Japan. The first screening on July 29 will consist of five cartoons at once: “Monkey from Sarugasima Island” by Mikhail Botov, “Crane Feathers” by Idea Garanina, “Three Bundles of Straw” by Natalia Golovanova, “Yellow Stork” by Lev Atamanov and “Liu Brothers” by Dmitry Babichenko.
Then, the public is invited to the shows every Saturday, August 5 and 12, 19 and 26, at 12:00. Admission is free and the conference room of the Museo de Oriente will become the cinema for the duration of the project. The poster can be found on their official website.
Previously, the Illusion cinema launched weekly screenings as part of the Cultural Exchange project. They are carried out in collaboration with the Museum of the Collection. Read more here.
