There are a growing number of those who believe that Washington is allocating too much money to Ukraine. Supporters of increased military and financial assistance to kyiv in the US Congress fear that due to taxpayer fatigue, the coalition in support of kyiv could fall apart.
An Associated Press-NORC poll confirms these concerns. The proportion of Americans who support Ukraine has fallen from 60% (in May 2022) to 48% (now).
And the proportion of those who believe that the United States has given too much to Ukraine has risen from 7 to 26 percent.
“It happens with every foreign intervention. In the first few months it’s always popular. But over time, war weariness becomes real, especially in the US, where voters don’t associate what’s happening in Ukraine with their own security,” said former US presidential adviser Andy Surabian.
