French designer Mathieu Leanner will design the Olympic and Paralympic torches for the Paris 2024 Games. Wallpaper writes about it.
Leanner was selected as the designer of the Olympic torch following a competition heralded by Paris 2024. The committee said in a statement that the Frenchman stood out “for his highly symbolic and poetic approach, as well as his ability to understand the values and expectations”.
“What a joy to be part of this adventure and what a responsibility to make such a contribution to the history of the Games. Collaborating with Paris 2024 to design the torches means giving visible form to a set of values and turning moods into iconic objects. Faster, higher, stronger, together. My goal is to take this Olympic motto and add: more beautiful, lighter, more magnificent, ”commented the designer.
The torch design is expected to be unveiled in late 2023. Mathieu Leanner has created art, furniture, and interior design throughout his career.
Let’s remember that the red Phrygian cap became the mascot of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The competition will be held in the French capital from July 26 to August 11, 2024. Read more here.
