In the US, streaming of Linda Ronstadt’s “Long, Long Time” increased 4900%. This is because she appeared in the third episode of The Last Of Us, which premiered on January 30. RBC writes about it.

“Long, Long Time” in 1970 was the choice of executive producer and director Craig Mazin. The song played throughout the episode. She could be heard in the piano scene with Bill (Nick Offerman) and Frank (Murray Bartlett) and in the final shot with Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey).

“In that scene, the song was supposed to touch on certain themes of longing, pain, and endless unrequited love. I couldn’t find a suitable lead anywhere, but I didn’t give up, and then I wrote to my friend Seth Rudetsky, who works as a host on Sirius XM Broadway radio,” Mazin shared.

In 1970, Linda Ronstadt released the song as a single and later on the Silk Purse album. The single spent 12 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. In 1971, the performer was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category of Best Contemporary Female Vocal Performance.

Previously, HBO extended the film adaptation of the computer game of the same name The Last of Us for a second season. We talk about the project in more detail here.
