The 71-year-old President of South Sudan, Salva Kiir, found himself in an unpleasant situation: at a solemn event on the occasion of the opening of the highway during the performance of the country’s national anthem, the politician urinated himself.
The footage, which shows the leg of the light-colored presidential suit getting wet, was posted on Twitter by the Kivu News 24 channel.
Well-known Nigerian senator and human rights activist Shehu Sani called what happened to Kiir “extreme patriotism”, which prevented the middle-aged president from going to the bathroom at such an important time for the country. However, Sani did not rule out the possibility that the South Sudanese president has some kind of bladder disease.
The Republic of South Sudan stands out for the fact that, having gained independence from Sudan in July 2011 following a referendum, it is the world’s youngest internationally recognized state. According to the latest census, the country’s population is about 12.5 million people.
Salva Kiir has been the undisputed president of South Sudan since the country received sovereign status on July 9, 2011.
