“Today here two armed men were preparing to assassinate me,” said Maduro, whose speech was broadcast on state channel VTV.
The president explained that law enforcement detained the men before the pro-presidential demonstration. He added that they belonged to the far-right Vente Venezuela party, which no longer exists.
According to the TASS agency, Caracas authorities previously reported the arrest of a group of men who were planning an assassination attempt against the president. It is noted that they were going to bring explosives to the demonstration.
