The price of electricity tomorrow, Wednesday, August 9, in the wholesale market will rise by more than 3% and will stand at 99.8 euros per megawatt hour (MWh). This is how the results held at the auction on Tuesday reflect it and reports Efe.
The cap on gas, which was established in its day to try to contain the price of electricity, will continue not to be applied tomorrow, Wednesday, since the price of gas in the Iberian Gas Market (Mibgas) continues below 60.6 euros/MWh, the limit set by the Government for the month of August.
So far this month, electricity has been paid on average at 73.6 euros/MWh, compared to 308.6 euros/MWh that were registered in August 2022, the most expensive month in history, while since that started this year the average price is 88 euros/MWh, less than half compared to the 222 euros/MWh of the previous year.
Likewise, electricity in Spain will be 64% cheaper tomorrow than a year ago, when it reached 277 euros/MWh, although it will be above the main neighboring countries.
In Germany, the average daily price for this Tuesday will be 88.4 euros/MWh; in France, 92 euros/MWh; in the United Kingdom, 80.5 pounds/MWh (about 93 euros at the current exchange rate), and in Italy, 99.5 euros/MWh.
