The average price of gasoline increased another 1.05% during the last week, while that of diesel did so by 0.54%. Fuels thus chain their fourth consecutive week of rises, registering gasoline since the beginning of the year a rebound of 18.29% and diesel, 15.62%. All this, after the end of the fuel discounts. According to data published this Thursday in the European Union Oil Bulletin, which includes Europa Press, in more than 11,400 Spanish service stations between the 17th and 23rd of, the liter of gasoline stood at an average of 1,636 euros and the diesel, at 1,688 euros.
Since the beginning of 2023, in which the discount of 20 cents per liter of fuel is no longer applied in general, which was in force between April and December 31 of last year, only for certain professional groups.
End of 20 cent discount
The average price of gasoline that was released this Thursday is at the level of the week of August 8 and that of diesel on August 29. With these prices, filling a 55-liter tank with gasoline costs 89.98 euros and if what is refueled is diesel, the cost increases to 92.84 euros.
If compared with a month ago, when the discount of 20 cents per liter was still in force in general, the average price of gasoline is 19.85% higher and that of diesel has threatened 16.98%. Compared to a year ago, when the discount was not yet in force, gasoline is now 7.63% more expensive and diesel costs 20.31% more.
Even so, these fuels are far from the maximum historical prices that they reached in June of last year. Gasoline is 15.71% below then, when its average price was, discount included, 1.94 euros per liter, while diesel, which reached 1.9 euros per liter, costs 11, 16% less.
The prices of these two fuels in the last week are also below the average registered in the Europe of the 27. The price of unleaded gasoline of 95 in Spain remains below the average of the European Union, located at 1.72 euros per liter, and from the eurozone, with an average price of 1.772 euros. In the case of diesel, the price in Spain is lower than the EU average, which is 1,788 euros, and is also below that of the euro zone, with a price of 1,812 euros.
