The purchase and sale of housing by foreigners, both residents and non-residents, grew by 22.85% in the third quarter of 2022, to 32,701 operations, compared to 26,617 registered in the same period of 2021, according to transaction data. real estate data from the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, consulted by Europa Press.

The accumulated from January to September 2022 amounted to 101,460 home purchases between foreigners, 44.31% more than in the first nine months of 2021. Those made by only foreigners residing in Spain stood at 16,880, and between July, 16.35% more than the 14,508 recorded by the ministry in the third quarter of 2021. For their part, foreigners not residing in the country made 15,821 purchases, compared to 12,109 in the third quarter of 2021, representing an increase of 30.65%.

Asturias led the increase in sales between foreigners, with a rise of 51.1% in the third quarter of 2022. In total, 266 transactions were registered, of which 214 were from foreigners and 52 were made by non-resident foreigners.

The Canaries also attracted real estate interest from foreign buyers. Transactions grew by 48.72% compared to the third quarter of 2021, to 2,808. Of these, 1,132 were from foreigners and the rest from non-resident foreigners.

Comunidad Valenciana was in third position, with an increase of 36.1% in home sales by foreigners. In addition, in absolute terms, it was the community that obtained the most operations, with 10,401 transactions from foreign citizens. Foreigners residing in Spain carried out 4,264 operations, while non-resident foreigners signed 6,137 transactions.

Despite the growth trend throughout the country, four autonomous communities showed decreases in the figures for home sales by foreigners. Cantabria had a decline of 20.8%, with only 99 operations, divided into 83 purchases and sales by resident foreigners and 16 among non-resident foreigners.

In the Balearic Islands, the fall was 13.9%, with a total of 1,731 operations in the third quarter. Of these, only 566 were from foreigners residing in Spain, while 1,165 were from non-residents in the country. Home sales in Navarra stood at 149 operations in the third quarter of the year, 12.8% less. In this case, 144 transactions were from foreign citizens residing in Spain and only 5 were from non-resident foreigners.

In the case of Castilla-La Mancha, sales between foreigners decreased by 11.12%, up to 583 operations, of which 567 were from resident foreigners and the remaining 16 from non-residents. 16.6% in sales by foreigners.
