Lobov is considered the organizer of a series of anti-government demonstrations on the territory of Belarus, with the aim of disrupting the elections. In 2010, he was arrested and sentenced to four years in a labor colony.
Amnesty International recognized him as a prisoner of conscience in 2013. According to Ukrainian media, Lobov served in the 72nd separate mechanized brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which is now located near Vuhledar.
