The shortage of supplies once again forces stoppages at the Stellantis factory in Vigo

Date: October 1, 2023 Time: 14:55:47

After three weeks in which the activity of Stellantis in Vigo returned to its activity after the latest production alterations, the factory has had to inform in a statement that the supply crisis is going to cause new stoppages in its machinery, causing some workers do not return to their post until at least April 17.

Specifically, the stop affects System 1 again, where the factory assembles the Peugeot 2008, the Peugeot 301 and the Citroën C-Elysée, and will take place in the tournament on Thursday night, April 13, and in the three shifts on Friday the 14th. This new stoppage in production joins a long list so far this year, as well as in the previous year, although the last anomaly in production, until now, had occurred on March 21 .

“Due to force majeure, as a result of the lack of supplies, the activity of ‘System 1’ is suspended in the night shift on Thursday, April 13 and in the three shifts on Friday the 14th,” explains the company. This stoppage reflects the problems that the firm has that have not yet been solved, since the sector continues to be one of the most affected by the inflammation and the material transport situation.

This note comes just after the company announced its expansion plans from the international arena, specifically, the company plans to open a new plant within South Africa “The company is a large global manufacturer of automobiles, with a range of well-known brands. South Africa is a great investment destination with significant car manufacturing capacity,” said South African Minister for Trade, Industry and Competition Ebrahim Patel.
