After the terrorist attack on Crocus City Hall, many artists expressed their condolences to the families of the victims and the injured. They also remember that they gave many of their best concerts at Crocus. There isn’t a single famous artist who wouldn’t perform a “solo” on Crocus.
Initially, the concert hall was to have a special concept: a concert hall in a casino, following the example of similar centers in Las Vegas. But then the game was banned in our country (it was allowed in several special gaming zones) and the concept changed. Crocus City Hall was converted into a concert hall on the territory of the shopping and exhibition complex – these are Crocus Expo and the Crocus Mall shopping center, built with money from the Crocus Group, owned by Araz Agalarov. Near the Myakinino metro station, part of the construction was financed by Agalarov.
The concert hall opened in October 2009 and is named after the singer Muslim Magomayev, with whom the Agalarov family was friends. Artists fell in love with Crocus – a modern hall with cool and expensive acoustic systems, modern engineering solutions – the viewer can hear high-quality sound anywhere in the hall. The sound engineering box and all sound solutions were thought out and executed to perfection, unlike elsewhere, which is a huge plus for the artist’s sound. Renting a hall for a concert costs almost as much as the Kremlin Palace, which can seat 6,000 spectators. And the “Crocus” transformable hall has a capacity of 7,500 people, the usual capacity of the hall is 6,200 people. The difference of more than a thousand entries is noticeable in terms of income. It was easy to get there by metro or car: there was a large parking lot. Both artists and spectators quickly stopped being embarrassed by the distance between the hall and the center: Crocus Town Hall was loved for its comfort. Investments in the hall project during construction amounted to 70 million dollars.
There have always been many concerts at Crocus. The recession hit during the pandemic: concerts and events were cancelled, stores were closed. But business began to recover after a temporary decline. Artists planned concerts at Crocus a year in advance. For example, singer SHAMAN performed three sold-out shows at Crocus on March 9, 10, and 11, 2024, and rented out the venue for a concert on March 9, 2025.

Tickets for the Picnic group’s concert on March 22 and 23 were completely sold out; the room was expected to be full. To rent a site, the team manager or the event organizing company signs a rental agreement with both the hall and its security company LLC Chop Crocus Profi. There is a lot of security: at the entrance, in the hallway, in the hallway, at each exit (the hallway is multi-level), but they are not armed. And he could hardly resist trained machine gunners. Yana Rudkovskaya reported on her Telegram channel that two sold-out Dima Bilan concerts were held in Crocus in February for 15 thousand people, and about 200 security officers ensured order in Crocus. Producer Rudkovskaya believes that public events should be protected by armed guards: “There are many questions for the private security company. Where was everyone and why is such unarmed security needed? And who and from whom does he protect then! This concert could have been ours or any other concert… I will tell you that Crocus has one of the most expensive private security companies in Russia. I have fear only. Why do I write and raise this problem? All public events need to be guarded only by professional armed people, and not by big-bellied guys who pay a lot of money and need to be guarded themselves!
Concerts by all the great Russian pop stars and many foreign artists were held in the Crocus Town Hall. But the most talked about event was the celebration of the 2013 Miss Universe pageant, when the host of the pageant, Donald Trump, sat in the VIP box.
