The State Duma adopted 653 laws in 2022, which is a record for all the years of the chamber’s work. Its speaker, Vyacheslav Volodin, spoke about this during a speech at the last plenary meeting of the autumn session. His words are quoted by TASS.
“In 2022, the State Duma adopted 653 laws. This is the largest number in the history of our parliament. It should be noted that since the Soviet Union, this is a historical maximum, an indicator of the effectiveness of the work, where there is also a fraction of the work of the body of deputies, ”he noted.
A third of the laws adopted have a social orientation. Volodin added that “despite the difficulties and problems, all obligations to the citizens of our country are being fulfilled. And we assume the obligation to do everything possible so that in the future we not only talk about problems, but also solve them”.
The politician also noted that the Duma still “has something to work on”: 1,319 bills remained in the legislative portfolio of deputies at the end of the year.
Recall that the State Duma amended the Criminal Code (CC), according to which the organization, financing and propaganda of sabotage provides for penalties of up to life imprisonment. The bill was approved in third reading, the deputies voted unanimously.
