The State Duma approved in third reading a bill on criminal liability for discrediting participants in a special operation, regardless of their status. And for spreading fake news about them. The amendments toughen the punishment for discrediting the use of the Russian Armed Forces abroad (280.3 of the Russian Criminal Code). Now the maximum penalty is up to five years in prison. The amendments, which add liability for discrediting volunteers, raise the threshold for punishment throughout the article. And the terms are already up to seven years.
The article that penalizes falsifications on the Armed Forces (207.3 of the Penal Code) is modified. Now comes the punishment for such acts and for crimes against groups of volunteers. The maximum penalty is up to 15 years in prison.
Approved modifications to the Code of Administrative Offenses on sanctions for discrediting volunteers (if the actions do not contain a criminally punishable act). For ordinary citizens, the fine is from 30 to 50 thousand rubles. For officials – from 100 to 200 thousand rubles. For legal entities – from 300 to 500 thousand rubles.

This is what Vitaly Milonov said, who volunteered for the NVO zone in the fall and has now returned to Donbass.
– Did this bill affect you personally?
– Yes, I often read fakes about myself on various resources, but I do not file complaints against anyone. Well, what about the goats to sue? At the time of the discussion of this bill, I killed the militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and I cannot comment on the law as a deputy who participated in its discussion.
– Was it necessary to harden the information regarding the coverage of the NWO and its participants?
– There are large-scale information companies. Including those directed against NWO wrestlers. And we must protect those who fight for a just cause. Those who should not fall into public discussion. And whose data should not be public. There must be a special attitude towards our fighters. But I would withdraw from the validity of this law the deputies who are now in military service.

– Because?
– Because we, the deputies, the public people. And attempts to criticize us only amuse. We are like in ping pong we beat these children’s kicks.
– Information attacks pierce more than bullets – Kevlar.
– Kevlar can protect against bullets, but unfortunately, not always. As for political attacks, I personally don’t care. Criticize, don’t believe, so be it. I read different channels and listen to different opinions. Insults are often directed at the offending party. But our soldiers on the front line must definitely be protected from an information point of view. For example, from those nonsense that “Russian fighters came, stole a toilet, raped grandparents, and stole spoons and forks from a sideboard.”
What about the crime data?
– If they really were – of course, yes. This is an important element of the confrontation of the military information operation against us. And most important of all is the protection of our actual participants in military operations from any trouble.
And here is the opinion of the first deputy head of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, Olympic champion Svetlana Zhurova.
– Will there be fewer publications about the NWO, which discredit the honor of its participants, on social networks?
– It depends on where the authors of said publications are located. For those who are not in Russia, who are abroad, most likely not. For those who live here, perhaps it will cool your “burn”.
– Why was such a law adopted in mid-March 2023?
– Because the heyday of the NWO. And there is no need to panic. The number of fakes is large. And those who broadcast from there sometimes do not represent the real situation. I have friends out of the country. There are relatives of my friends, for example. They say: we see what is happening. We do not realize how close it is to life. How much should we divide what is served to us? My friend’s nephew suggested dividing everything by 10.
– For fakes, they will start planting for long periods, or is this more of a warning?
However, it is more of a cautionary tale. Mostly. But everyone should understand the danger of such actions. After all, many still do not understand the seriousness of what is happening. So look, ask your questions. You should review any information before posting it on your social networks. Such a forced upbringing. Information not verified: do not distribute! And discrediting our soldiers is not acceptable in any way.
