Over the past three years, the flow of tourists to the ski resorts of the North Caucasus has tripled and already exceeds 1.3 million people per season. Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak spoke about this on Monday at a meeting with Mikhail Mishustin.
Arkhyz is still one of the main ski resorts in the North Caucasus. Now it is visited annually by more than 700 thousand tourists. As planned by the government, by 2030 the tourist flow to Arkhyz should double.
The complex has already created 27 km of slopes with an artificial snow production system, 8 modern cable cars, as well as cafes and restaurants. As Novak said, a strategic investor was involved in the development of the resort, who assumed obligations for the further development of Arkhyz. He will transfer 24.2 billion rubles to the Russian budget and invest at least 40 billion rubles in the infrastructure of the resort, which will increase the flow of tourists.
– The implementation of the investment project is of great importance not only for the Karachay-Cherkess Republic, but also for the entire North Caucasus, for our entire country. These are new jobs and additional tax revenue to the budget system, and most importantly, it is an increase in the well-being of the inhabitants of the North Caucasus, Novak said.
According to Novak, the government hopes to extend this experience to other resorts in the North Caucasus.
“It is important that all the intentions, when a public-private partnership is concluded, do not remain on paper, but are implemented in specific kilometers, square meters,” said Mishustin. According to him, the tourism sector should become the main direction for the development of the North Caucasus.
