Online cinema more.tv has released a trailer for the animated series Anthology of Russian Horror. It included six short films of up to 20 minutes in length, based on the plots of the classics. The premiere on the service will take place on February 16.
Each episode has a different director. So, “The Pied Piper’s Daughter” based on the work of Alexander Green, was filmed by Jim Bryson and Adam Jeffcoat. Based on the Alexei Tolstoy novel, The Ghoul Family was directed by Sam Chow. The series tells about a diplomat from France who escapes from a heavy blizzard from a peasant and “realizes that stories about demons are not just legends.”
The author of The Undertaker is Sergey Kibus. It was created based on the story of the same name by Alexander Pushkin about a young undertaker who, due to the death of his wife, plunges into work. The episode “Mozharovo” was shot by Matthew Lyon and Alyosha Klimov, Lubomir Arsov – “Forest King”, Hirofumi Nakada and Klimov – “Prince”. Each series is made in different animation techniques.
“The Anthology of Russian Horror is an experimental project that shows the statements and positions of directors from different countries, their culture, mentality and differences in approach to such a key concept as horror. It turned out such a thematic art “exhibition”, said Alyosha Klimov.
Earlier, a trailer for the horror movie Beau Is Afraid was released on the A24 YouTube channel. It tells the story of a man from a small town who tries to find out the circumstances of his mother’s death. Joaquin Phoenix played the lead role in the movie.
