Online services more.tv and Wink have released the official trailer for the Librarian project based on the novel of the same name by Mikhail Elizarov. The premiere will take place on June 29 exclusively on more.tv and Wink. The director of the eight-episode series was Igor Tverdokhlebov (“Trigger”, “Major”).
The lead role in the urban fantasy was played by Nikita Efremov, whose works include Patient Zero and Tetris. He played the unsuccessful actor Alexei Vyazintsev, who learns that his father was killed under mysterious circumstances. According to the synopsis, Aleksey travels to Shironino, his father’s hometown, to sell his apartment, but gets caught up in a series of dangerous events. Locals believe that the books of the forgotten Soviet writer Gromov have magical properties.
Evgenia Dmitrieva, Marina Vorozhishcheva, Mikhail Troinik, Andrey Merzlikin, Mikhail Trukhin, Sergey Epishev, Elena Morozova, Mariam Psuturi, Igor Zolotovitsky and Alexandra Ursulyak starred in the series with Efremov.
The novel, which formed the basis of the project, was awarded the Russian Booker Literary Prize in 2008. The Librarian, published in 2007, has been translated into many languages and has become a bestseller in France, Italy, England, Japan, China and Serbia.
Previously, the Russian experimental avant-pop group Shortparis released the song “For the First Time”. It was created specifically for the more.tv detective thriller based on true events, starring Ivan Yankovsky and Sasha Bortich. The song premiered the day the final episode aired.
