Online cinema “Kinopoisk” shared the first trailer of the upcoming series “Fandorin. Azazel”. The script is based on a novel by the Russian writer Boris Akunin.
Akunin’s “Azazel” is rethought: the events of the show take place not in the 19th century, as in the original version, but in an alternate year of 2023, in which the monarchy has been preserved. In the story, the young Erast Fandorin begins to investigate a suicide that occurred in a city park.
The main character was played by Vladislav Tiron. Of his character, he said, “It’s important to understand that a script doesn’t always follow the literary source word for word. My Fandorin is much younger, and at least in that he differs from his prototype book. But both the book and the series Fandorin is distinguished mainly by courage, which helps him in everything. He is fearless, honest, responsible, persistent and ready to answer for his actions.”
The role of Emperor Nicholas III was played by Maxim Matveev, and the progressive Prime Minister Dmitry Orlov, with whom he shares power, was played by Yevgeny Stychkin. The cast also included Mila Ershova (“Difficult Teens”), Alexander Semchev (“Godunov”), Milena Radulovich (“Balkan Frontier”), Artem Bystrov (“Fool”) and Grigory Vernik (“Zhiza”).
The series was originally scheduled to premiere on January 4, 2023, but has since been moved to January 19.
Let’s remember that the filming of “Fandorin. Azazel” ended in August. They were held in Peterhof, Yusupov and Marble Palaces, Sevkabel Porto.
