The general director of the Tax Agency, Soledad Fernández, has indicated this Tuesday that the body will verify “when appropriate” if there are “valid” economic reasons that can justify the operation to transfer the registered office announced by Ferrovial to the Netherlands and that it will vote this next Thursday its shareholders meeting.
During the press conference in the 2022 Income Campaign that took place this Tuesday, Fernández stressed that “the Tax Agency receives absolutely no indication from the Ministry or the Government, it has never been like that.”
In addition, as indicated by the director, the Tax Agency inspection verifies mergers and values of operations of this type -under the regime of mergers, spin-offs, non-monetary contributions and exchange of- “when appropriate” with the aim of analyzing whether there is or there is no economic reason that is the bottom of the movement of society.
Checks that will last between 1 and 2 years
As the director has detailed, there are strategic lines for verifications and there is a procedure for selecting the operations to be analyzed based on the apparent fiscal risks that each entity presents. “There is no calendar, but year after year these plans are made,” Fernández pointed out.
In addition, he has specified that they are checks that last a year or two. “They are large, very long and expensive checks,” she said. In the event that there was no valid economic reason, this type of regularization implies “high amounts”, although at the moment it is “impossible to anticipate the figure or result”, Fernández emphasized.
