Date: July 17, 2024 Time: 16:44:48

Previously, in the presentation of the joint statement, Iraq and Jordan were presented as signatories of the document. However, the list was later updated: these two countries disappeared from the list.

The reasons for the withdrawal of signatures were not specified.

This brings to 14 the number of countries that have not signed the final document.

Let us remember that the statement was not approved by Brazil, India, South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, as well as Armenia, Bahrain, Indonesia, Libya, Mexico and Thailand. Furthermore, the UN representatives and the Pope did not sign.

The Ukrainian summit was held for two days in the resort town of Bürgenstock, near Lucerne. In total, representatives from 91 countries participated in the conference, in addition to Ukraine. 160 states were invited; Russia was not on the list.

On the second day of the summit, even before its conclusion, US Vice President Kamala Harris and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz left Switzerland.

Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky, in turn, announced a second “peace summit” after the meeting. “There are already countries willing to accept it,” he said.
