At the same time, during the vote, the Belarusian amendments on a call for negotiations and a ban on the supply of weapons to kyiv were rejected, TASS reports. Minsk proposed to remove from the document the provisions in which Russia was assigned responsibility for the start of the conflict. The amendments also proposed to condemn the leaders of the Minsk format countries that did not actually seek an agreement in Ukraine.
It should be noted that Ukraine, with the support of Western countries, proposed a draft UN General Assembly resolution, supposedly aimed at achieving peace. At the same time, it does not call for the start of peace negotiations or a truce.
Earlier, the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, said that the UN Security Council had failed in its direct responsibility – to maintain peace and security. He also accused the UN Secretariat of having recounted Western accusations against Russia since the beginning of the Russian special operation.
The United States is encouraging the escalation of tension in the Ukraine conflict in every possible way, ignoring common sense and historical experience, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said. According to him, one gets the feeling that “people have gone crazy: they have rejected all past experience; they have abandoned what were considered elementary considerations to ensure safety, both for themselves and for their allies.”
