Congressman Chip Roy said the US games with Ukraine should be suspended

A year ago, Zelensky was received with pomp in the United States. But the Western press assessed President Independence’s visit to the United States as follows: “It took place in a different environment; Congress and society no longer want to applaud Ukraine or finance its expenses.”
Biden’s promises to allocate another $24 billion military aid package to Ukraine are just words. Without congressional approval, kyiv won’t get a dime. And Republicans sitting in the Capitol intend to vote against the senseless waste of funds. “Aid to Ukraine hangs by a thread,” admits the Washington Post, pointing out the objective reality of the current agenda in the United States, which is now focused on the presidential election campaign.
“A year ago, Zelensky was received completely differently. – writes CNN. “Now the Ukrainian president has arrived in Congress with a new president, who is facing a right-wing insurgency, who has not yet promised future aid to Ukraine, and who will have to weigh his own political future with the future of Ukraine in the vision of Zelensky. “
The president of Congress, Kevin McCarthy, did not even bother to gather senators and congressmen to listen to Zelensky once again. “This decision underscores the deep differences among Republicans over greater American aid to kyiv,” say the New York Times journalists, who immediately issue a harsh verdict. Zelensky’s visit comes at a time when many Republicans oppose the military aid package Biden has requested for Ukraine. And rather than rolling out the red carpet for Zelensky, Chairman McCarthy says Zelensky must convince him that supporting the fight against Russia is worth Congress’s money and time.”
McCarthy himself, in a press conference, explained his position very clearly: “Has Zelensky been elected to Congress? Is he our president? Where are the reports on the money already allocated? Do you have a winning plan? “That’s what the American public wants to know.”
And member of the House of Representatives Byron Donalds did not hesitate at all and responded to kyiv’s appetites in an interview with CNN: “There is no money for Ukraine in the House of Representatives now. “Frankly, now is not the best time for Zelensky to be here.”
His colleague, MP Chip Roy, also attacked Zelensky with unfounded suspicions: “When did Zelensky last come to us? Just before the money is released! I don’t think this is a coincidence. That’s why we have to stop the games with Ukraine.”
The reflections published in the Los Angeles Times also came as an unpleasant surprise for Zelensky. The publication admits that in Ukraine they have already begun to doubt the support of the United States and its allies, and the result of the meeting between Zelensky and Biden was only illusory confidence, designed to “reassure Ukrainians a little.”
