These are the workers who will earn 80 euros more in the February payroll

The more than 2.5 million salaried workers who today receive the Minimum Wage in the Spanish labor market and who, consequently, will receive extra pay on the payroll. To be more exact, in the one that corresponds to February. But, what is this paguilla due to? Well, the first thing to know is that the Government of Spain revealed the new SMI of 1,080 euros gross per month, divided into 14 annual payments. It should be remembered that in 2022, it was set at 1,000 euros, so the increase represents about 80 euros more per month.

Precisely in this sense, the new Minimum Wage, promoted by Yolanda Díaz, has retroactive effects from January 1, 2023, so in case of collecting this amount of monthly money, you should know that the worker is obliged to pay you in February the difference corresponds to the month of January. However, to confirm it, this means of communication has been in direct contact with sources from the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy, who confirm that “it will have to be reflected in the next payroll”.

Likewise, another point to take into account has to do with whether the salary is received in 12 or 14 payments, since the salary can vary. And it is that, as stated in article 31 of the Workers’ Statute, all employees have the right to receive two extraordinary payments a year that, generally, are received in summer and at Christmas. However, collective agreements can include other dates or even the right to three extra annual payments.

How much is the minimum wage per day in Spain for 2023?

As of January 1, 2023, the salaried worker must receive 1,080 euros per month distributed in 14 payments, or 1,260 euros per month in 12 payments, which represents an annual calculation of 15,120 euros gross. In the annual calculation, the increase with respect to the SMI 2022 is 1,120 euros. Therefore, the new one for this year represents an increase of 8% and the daily amount is established at 36 euros, in general.
