They attack the mural of former player Osasuna Mai Garde with sexist graffiti.

Date: August 20, 2022 Time: 04:36:04

A mural made by Pamplona-based urban artist LKN in honor of the former captain of the Osasuna women’s team, who recently announced her retirement from football, was attacked this Wednesday by several sexist graffiti against the former football player, in which one can read insults “feminazi” and a whore, accompanied by two Nazi swastikas.

The former Osasuna player, a famous football and women’s sport in Navarra, has received a wave of support via Twitter. She herself reacted to the picture with a message on this social network: “How much remains to be done …,” she complained.

How much more do we have to do…

“Well, girls, it’s better to wash and iron at home, you won’t become warriors,” Podemos MP Mikel Bouil wrote. “The most emphatic rejection of this disgusting graffiti, which shows that we still need to continue to score many goals against the patriarchy,” wrote Carlos Guzmán, general coordinator of the United Left in Navarre. From other political groups such as UPN or EH Bildu they also sent messages of support.

The most drastic rejection of this disgusting graffiti, which shows that we still have a lot of goals to score against patriarchy. Big support @maigarde! https://t.co/cZLchhPPXV

The act of vandalism also reached the Pamplona City Council, where, at the request of PSN-PSOE councillor, Xabier Sagardoy, a unanimous message of condemnation was issued, along with a commitment to remove the graffiti.

We reject graffiti and insults against Mai Garde, ask for municipal help to remove them, and once again put on the table the importance of working with the city council on a policy of equality. pic.twitter.com/7hEntaYs2I

Finally, Club Atlético Osasuna removed the graffiti mural and repainted the wall where it was located in the immediate vicinity of El Sadar Stadium, where the club plays its home matches.
