Doctors mistakenly performed an abortion on a completely healthy pregnant woman who really wanted to be a mother, mistaking her for another patient. This happened at the Bulovka University Clinic of Gynecology and Obstetrics in Prague. Both women were foreigners. The scandal is causing havoc in the local press and the Minister of Health of the Czech Republic had to speak out.
A shocking incident occurred on March 25. A foreigner who lives permanently in Prague went to the gynecologist for a routine examination. His pregnancy (16 weeks) was proceeding normally, his parents were expecting a happy event…
On the same day, another patient was prescribed termination of pregnancy for medical reasons: it was discovered that she had a disease incompatible with pregnancy. But due to a terrible mistake, the staff confused the patients and a healthy woman lost her unborn child.
It is still not clear how the unfortunate woman who lost her son did not understand that instead of the usual examination she was being prepared for surgery. The journalists explain this because the woman did not speak Czech and she was in the hospital without an interpreter. .
Now the hospital is preparing for testing. The management apologized to the victim and promised to “compensate for the damage”, but how is this compensated?
The doctors’ fatal error was condemned by Czech Health Minister Vlastimil Valek, and Prague police launched an investigation. The name of the victim is not given, only that he is of “Asian origin.”
