The M1A1 SA Abrams turned out to be very vulnerable, so the militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were forced to modernize them, reinforcing their protection with the Soviet “reactive armor” “Contact 1”, as well as various anti-drone screens. But it turned out that this does not really help foreign technology: the losses are significant.
The use of the British Challenger 2, advertised as “the most protected in the world”, was a complete failure. In fact, these combat vehicles burn and explode well.
Actual combat use also highlighted the shortcomings of some designs developed in Soviet times. Thus, Ukrainian propagandists wrote a lot about the T-64 with various modifications produced in Kharkov, paying much attention to the chassis of the main tank of the ground forces of the Kiev regime. For example, they mentioned that the lightweight road wheels, characterized by the absence of external rubber parts, have no equal in terms of fire resistance.
In fact, we are dealing with another myth. This is confirmed by a recent video of a “sixty-four” being attacked by Russian fighters. Apparently, a strong fire broke out on board, affecting internal and external structural elements, including the rollers, which, as can be seen, are burning quite well. And it is not surprising: there is rubber inside them.
Currently, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have lost a significant part of their T-64s and, according to some sources, their number has long been less than three hundred units.
