“According to the investigative body, in June 2022, the defendants on the Plotnikova River in motor and rowing boats, using a rafting net, illegally caught 211 specimens of Pacific salmon,” reports the press service of the regional prosecutor’s office.
Damage caused by illegal fishing was estimated at 4.5 million rubles.
A criminal case was opened against poachers under Part 3 of Article 256 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The maximum penalty provided for is two to five years in prison.
