“A barrage of missiles was fired from Lebanon towards northern Israel,” the publication writes, adding that many of the missiles were intercepted by Israel’s Iron Dome anti-missile defense system.
The first videos of the bombing have appeared on social media, showing the Iron Dome in operation, RIA Novosti reports.
According to Israeli television channel Kan, around 30 rockets were fired. Israeli television channel Al Mayadeen reported that more than 50 missiles were involved in the attack.
Recall that on July 29, the Israeli army shelled 15 settlements in eastern and southern Lebanon with heavy artillery. This came after threats against the Lebanese movement Hezbollah, which Israel blamed for the attack on the Golan Heights.
The next day, the Israel Defense Forces announced an airstrike on the outskirts of Beirut. The IDF clarified that the attack was aimed at a senior commander of the Lebanese group Hezbollah.
It later emerged that Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukr was killed as a result of this attack.
