Travis Scott released “Utopia” of the 21st century – Rossiyskaya Gazeta

Date: July 24, 2024 Time: 05:16:41

It seems that the musician with a hundred braids himself did not really believe in success, since he titled the album Utopia. But he convinced him to help and attracted the first stars of pop and rock music to cooperate: Beyoncé, Drake, James Blake, the electronic rock group Daft Punk, Pharrell Williams, 21 Savage and other luminaries. And together these 20 artists recorded 19 songs that few expected from them.

Why did you abandon your business for Travis? Maybe to console. After all, five years ago this artist stopped touring for the sake of his family. But day after day he filmed his wife pregnant with him and, after the birth of her daughter and his son, he edited these episodes into a mini-movie. Colleagues admired the unprecedented tenderness of the always brutal, daring and frenetic rapper on stage!

But as soon as the children grew up a little, he unexpectedly left the family. She fell into depression. And he decided to create a new harmony not at home, but in music: a troublemaker with a hundred braids decided to invent a universal musical style. And he records an experimental album: mix different musical styles, add sounds from the Universe, introduce trends of symphonic genres into hip-hop.

The first to support the “inventor” was the sensitive Beyoncé, and then the others joined in: each one took their own lead. And it became interesting: an unprecedented task, right?

And in the end, the album included 19 tracks, on each of which the mastermind of the project sang along with one of the guests. Everyone, as is usual among stars, covered themselves with the blanket. Travis Scott just physically couldn’t argue with everyone and was tired of personal experiences… But maybe that’s why the album turned out well. Each of the guests had their own favorite styles. So they sewed the release, as if they were different scraps.

The most revealing example is the K-Pop song that Bad Bunny and The Weeknd recorded with Travis Scott: some were attracted to reggaeton, reggae, others to hip-hop, and others to funk. In the end we got a theme that almost everyone liked. Although it is possible that other fans only heard “their favorite” part of the song. The same with the other 18 songs… The result was a kind of motley and attractive hodgepodge of tastes, rhythms and melodies.

But no single style of music was invented for all these 20 stars. Maybe that’s good. After all, otherwise all artists would sound almost the same. Would you turn into robots? Well I do not!

So Travis Scott was rightly upset about not being able to create a universal style of music. But his wife noticed his torment and they seemed to make peace…
