Ukrainian spy Andrei Petkevich sentenced to 16 years in prison in Russia

Petkevich, who worked as a car mechanic, tried to recruit employees of Tula defense enterprises.

The verdict of the Tula Regional Court against the 43-year-old Ukrainian citizen Andrei Vyacheslavovich Petkevich, who was found guilty of committing an offense under Art. 276 of the Criminal Code of Russia (“Espionage”).

Petkevich, who worked as a car mechanic, tried to recruit employees of Tula defense companies. But his spying activities quickly stopped.

During the detention, it was discovered that he had parts of a weapon, which he was interested in from the employees of a defense company.

“As a result of the measures taken, it was established that the foreigner, on the instructions of the intelligence services of Ukraine, searched for employees of Russian defense companies among the secret carriers. Their goals were the development of conscription of Russians and obtaining from them legally protected information about promising developments in the field of small arms, ”the Russian FSB explained.

The court sentenced Petkevich to 16 years in prison in a strict correctional colony.
