The check for 200 euros for the purchase of food that the Government of Spain exposed at the end of 2022 can now be requested. The Tax Agency, which is in charge of managing this extraordinary payment, opened the period on February 15 and, since then, has already received close to a million applications from salaried, self-employed or unemployed workers registered with employment offices. who do not receive other social benefits, such as the Minimum Vital Income or the pension. But taxpayers who haven’t applied yet should pay special attention to when the deadline closes if they want to be among the beneficiaries.
The objective of this economic aid is to support the income of the most vulnerable sectors of the population, given the high inflation, which stood at 5.9% in January, as a result of the war in Ukraine. It is expected to reach 4.2 million households and make it possible to combat precarious situations that are not covered by other social benefits.
The check will be granted by family unit, not individually, to those who meet a series of requirements established by the Public Treasury, the main one being that the applicant has habitual residence in Spain. In addition, they must have received full income of less than 27,000 euros per year and have assets of less than 75,000 euros -the habitual residence is excluded from the computation-.
When does the deadline to request the help of 200 euros end?
The first thing that those who want to request the 200-euro check should know is that they have to do it through the Electronic Office of the Tax Agency before the deadline ends on March 31, 2023.
Taxpayers have to fill out a form that can be accessed with the cl@ve or electronic certificate, and in which they must indicate the number of the bank account in which they wish to receive the transfer. If desired, it is possible that this request be completed to a third party by proxy or social collaboration.
Next, the body attached to the Ministry of Finance and Public Administration, led by María Jesús Montero, crosses the data with those of other administrations and decides whether or not the applicant is entitled to receive the check. In case it is denied, you will be notified and you will have ten days to argue. If you do not submit allegations, documents or supporting documents within a month, your request will be considered denied.
How long does it take to cash the check?
Although it is not yet known with certainty when the aid from the Government of Spain will be approved, nor when the income will be received, if the time it will take the Treasury to issue a benefit payment as an example, everything indicates that the term for collecting it is three months, which starts counting from March 31, once the period for submitting the form ends. Hence, the maximum date to obtain the subscription has been set on June 30, 2023, and that some will not have it until the summer.
It must be taken into account that, if three months have passed since the deadline for requesting the aid closed, and this has not been collected, nor has a negative resolution proposal been received, the application is understood to be rejected.
How can you know if the Treasury has denied you?
The Tax Agency will pay the money by bank transfer. But if you decide that the applicant does not meet the requirements to receive the aid, you will be notified of this denial resolution proposal. This document contains the data needed to consult the reasons for the refusal in the Electronic Office.
However, it is possible to know the status of the request, even before receiving the response from the Treasury. To do this, you have to access the web page where you fill out the check form, and click on ‘Consult submitted applications’, where you have to enter with your electronic ID or digital certificate.
Later it will be possible to verify if the bond is in a High or Low situation, that is, if it has been accepted or not. But it must not be forgotten that some procedures may be delayed, since the application period ends on the last calendar day of March and the aid will be managed in order of entry.
